Singapore to Kuala Lumpur by Train.


Train is the cheapest and the best way to go KL from Singapore.

The journey takes about 6.30 hours similar to bus but in a far more comfortable way.

There are 3 trains from Singapore (Woodlands) to KL (Sentral KL) at present. 

Train #2 EKSPRES RAKYAT: Depart daily from Woodlands at 9:12AM, arrives to KL Sentral at 2:56PM  (Class 1, 2)

Train #12 EKSPRES SINARAN SELATAN: Depart daily from Woodlands at 2:18PM, arrives to KL Sentral at 8:25PM (Class 1, 2, L, S)

Train #24 SENANDUNG SUTERA: Depart daily from Woodlands at 11:55PM, arrives to KL Sentral at 6:30AM (Class 1, 2, L, F, S)

The different classes: 

1. L  or ADNFD = Deluxe sleeper  - 1 or 2-bed compartments with private shower & toilet, air-conditioned.
2. F  or ADNFB = 1st class sleepers – Bed compartments with washbasin, air-conditioned.
3. S or ADNS = 2nd class sleepers – Upper & lower berths with curtains for privacy, air-conditioned.
4. 1 or AFC = 1st class seats – Reasonably luxurious, reclining, air-conditioned.
5. 2 or ASC = 2nd class seats -  Comfortable, air-conditioned.

How to book: 

You can book the tickets online in http://www.ktmb.com.my/ . Easy way to book.
Debit cards can be used even if it says only credit cards. The amount will be charged in few days.

You can also book at the stations designated or by calling to the KTM (Malaysian Railways) call centre.

Advance booking may be made within 60 days prior to travel date.Tickets cannot be booked online for travel less than 48 hours from departure time.

To board a train, reservation is required (Not to forget the passport, Visa, immigrations checks) and the bookings are open 30 days in advance.

As the seats or berths are very less (don know y), book early to avoid the disappointment.

Cancellation: 

No refund, cancellation or transfer is allowed via this web-site. However request for refund of ticket may be made at any KTM ticket counters upon presentation of the ticket ID and Reference numbers as proof. The refund will be credited into clients credit card accounts.

E- tickets cannot be cancel 2 hours before the trains depart from the origin station.

Save your wallet: 

When you are booking from Singapore, you will be charged about 2.5 times the price as it is charged in SGD.

2 ways of reducing it.

1. Book the train from JB Sentral instead of Woolands and travel to JB by coach.

2. 2nd method is to book 2 tickets, i.e., one from Woodlands to JB Sentral (charged in SGD) and second from JB to KL (charged in MYR).

While returning you can book upto Woodlands in MYR only :)

The KL Station: 

Select Sentral Kuala Lumpur station, not the Kuala Lumpur, which is a different station and have another network of trains.

E-MAIL RESERVATION
Ticket is open for booking 60 days in advance prior to the departure date. Any requests for booking, kindly send to callcenter@ktmb.com.my and we will reply within 3 working days. Notification of Reference ID will be informed by return email after booking is made. Ticket must be collected at counter based on the date and time given.

WALK-IN TICKETING COUNTER
Ticket is open for purchase 60 days in advance prior to the departure date. Ticket can be purchased at any on-line intercity ticketing counters as well as at Commuter station

(Commuter station: Tanjung Malim, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Kuang, Kepong, Kepong Sentral, Sentul, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Klang, Pelabuhan Klang, Rawang, Sg. Buloh, Serdang, Kajang and Seremban)

TELEPHONE RESERVATION
Ticket is open for booking 60 days in advance prior to the departure date or latest by 72 hours before departure date. Reference ID will be given during booking is made and ticket must be collected at counter based on the date and time given. Telephone booking is made through KTMB Call Center Hot-line number at : 1-300-88-KTMB(5862) local or +603-22671200 international.

DELIVERY SERVICES
Delivery service may be made at least three (3) days within date of departure. System will NOT process any reservations made less than three days. Ticket reservation and delivery can be carried out within 60 days in advance prior to departure. Children between the ages of 4 and 12 years old are charged half the adult basic fare while children under 4 years travel free of charge. For services to or from Singapore, single or return ticket/s purchased at any station in Malaysia tickets will be charged in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) while single or return ticket/s purchased in Singapore will be charged in Singapore Dollars (SGD). Delivery service is within Klang Valley. Delivery prices from MYR4.00-MYR6.00 per ticket and sequence ticket MYR1.00 each.
