Pura Puseh, Batuan

This temple in Batuan village, Bali, has a history of over 1000 years. This ancient village temple dated in 1022 AD has a five-tiered gate way tower which looks similar to Indian temples.

Like all other temples in Bali, this temple too have serves the gods Brahma, Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

Interesting thing is that unlike the temples in India, one can visit the Balinese temples with footwear. The reason being the idols are not in the temple premises all the time. They are only brought at the time of rituals.

But we need to wear Sarong if our legs are not completely covered. This is same with the male and female. At the entrance of any temple, you can find people giving Sarong for free. (Ofcourse, don't forget to return!)

The tiers of the temples are made of grass. The back one is the Palm grass and has a life of 50 years where as the grey grass is the Alan Alan grass (what they call), the long grass seen beside the rivers and lakes. It has a life of 20 years.

They change it when it's worn out or after their life time.

The Barong statue in the premises..
